Egypt Olympic team manager Hany Ramzy is hoping to have veteran Mohamed Abou-Treika on board at the London Games, Ahli said on their website. Ahli said that former defender Ramzy has ‘unofficially' asked to add Abou-Treika to his Olympic roster as one of three senior players. However, the Reds said that the 33-year-old is ‘reluctant to join the U-23s at the expense of younger players who deserve to get the chance of featuring at the Olympics'. It is understood that Harras Hodoud and Egypt winger Ahmed Eid has already booked his place in Ramzy's squad after captaining the team in the recent Arab Cup of Nations. Zamalek striker Amr Zaki is also tipped to make the cut, while Essam Al-Hadari, Ahmed Fathi, Hosni Abd-Rabou, Emad Meteb, Mohamed Abdul-Shafi and Ahmed Abdul-Zaher were shortlisted as well. Egypt open their Olympic campaign against Brazil on July 27 before facing New Zealand and Belarus.
