Egypt Olympic team coach Hany Ramzy has named 35 players in his provisional squad for the London Games, including ten senior internationals. Ramzy had initially named a list of 73 players in April and has now cut his squad before submitting the final roster of 18 before July 9. The provisional squad included six members of the current Egypt senior selection in Essam Al-Hadari, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Abdul-Shafi, Hosni Abd-Rabou, Mohamed Abou-Treika and Mohamed Zidan. Amr Zaki, Emad Meteb, Ahmed Eid and Ahmed Abdul-Zaher were also added as the 10 players will vie for three possible slots for seniors with the U-23 team. It is believed that Harras Hodoud winger Eid has already reserved his place with the team after taking part in the friendly Toulon Tournament last month. Zamalek striker Zaki is also a strong candidate to make the London finals with Ramzy's team, who kickoff their Olympic campaign against Brazil on July 26.
