Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou had a late winner denied by the woodwork as Ittihad Jeddah were held to a 1-1 draw at Hilal to miss out on a place in the Saudi King Cup of Champions semi-final. Abd-Rabou, on a six-month loan from Ismaili, could have been the hero of the two-legged quarter-final tie, having bagged a brace in the 2-2 first-leg draw which saw Hilal advance on the away-goal rule. After Hilal's Moroccan defender Adil Hermach cancelled out Naif Hazazi's 47th minute spot-kick, Abd-Rabou almost grabbed a stunning winner with one of his trade-mark set pieces in the 88th minute. But the superbly swerved free-kick agonizingly rattled the bar to end the tie in the hosts' favor. Ittihad had already missed out on the league title as the AFC Champions League remains as the only hope of silverware for the Jeddah giants.
