Zamalek have handed Mali international midfielder Mamadou Diakite a trial ahead of a potential winter-break move. The Cairo club said on their website that the 26-year-old is training with the first team as coach Hassan Shehata intends to bolster his squad with another foreigner. Zamalek already have Ghanaian center-half Karimu Alhassan and Benin forward Razak Omotoyossi as two out of three allowed non-Egyptians. Diakite, who played once for his national team, played before for France's Metz and Portugal Vitoria as he had a brief stint in Qatar with Ahli in 2010.
