Egypt have qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time in 20 years after beating Senegal 2-0 in the CAF U-23 Championship third-place playoff. Goals at either side of the interval from Ahmed Sherweda and Saleh Gomaa made the difference for Hany Ramzy's men in Marrakech on 32 and 69 minutes. Egypt claim third place with the victory as hosts Morocco entertain Gabon in the final later on Saturday, with the three teams guaranteeing places in next year's London Olympics. Senegal will face an Asian nation in another chance to reach the finals. The first half was all Egypt and the opening goal expectedly came from the in-form Sherweda, who applied an easy finish into the empty net after winning a challenge with the goalkeeper. It all changed after the break as Senegal took control but were consistently denied by a solid Egypt defense and the brilliant Ahmed Al-Shennawi in goal. Against the run of play, Gomaa snatched the vital second goal with a powerful shot from 20 yards. The Senegalese thought they had pulled one back immediately after Egypt's second, but the goal from striker Wade was ruled offside.
