Ahmed Elmohamady featured for Sunderland for the first time in two weeks as the Black Cats lost 1-0 at Manchester United in the English Premier League. It was an unimpressive display for the Premiership holders, with Sunderland unfortunate to concede an own goal by former United defender Wes Brown on the stroke of half time. Egypt winger Elmohamady came on to replace Benin midfielder Stephane Sessegnon 14 minutes from time. The defeat leaves Sunderland in 14th place with 10 points from 11 games.
