Ghazl Mahalla's return to the top flight has been anything but quiet as the Peasants succumbed to a 3-0 defeat by their visitors Masri, with the angry home fans interrupting the game for more than 15 minutes. Masri were two-nil inside the opening 25 minutes through Abdoulaye Cisse and Mahmoud Toba. Even though it is only the first game of the season, the Mahalla fans seemed to have lost faith in the team as they incessantly taunted their own players before throwing objects onto the field. The fans also called for the sacking of manager Salah Al-Nahi, urging the board to hire Hossam Hassan instead. Referee Mohamed Farouk was forced to stop play for around 15 minutes as Cisse added a third for Masri near the end. The result marked a winning debut for Masri boss Talaat Youssef.
