Ahli are almost out of the CAF Champions League as they trail Esperance by a controversial goal at half time. Cameroonian defender Yaya Banana headed the only goal of the first half on 17 minutes, with television replays proving he was clearly offside. Ahli are now facing a Déjà vu of last season's exit at the hands of Esperance, who edged the semi-final tie in Tunis with the infamous Michael Eneramo strike. The Egyptian champions have to win the game in order to go through, with Wydad Casablanca surprisingly losing to bottom-of-the-group MC Alger 2-0. Ahli are now one point adrift of Wydad as a draw favors the Moroccans, thanks to their superiority on the head-to-head record.
