Niger have moved to top of Group 7 after beating South Africa 2-1 in Niamey in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Goals from Dankwa Kofi and Moussa Maazou lifted the home side, with Andile Jali scoring for the South Africans. With one game to go, the result left the outsiders on nine points at the top, one more than South Africa and Sierra Leone, who beat the already ousted Egypt on Saturday. The unexpected victory also means that Niger's visit to Cairo this month will be decisive, with Bafana Bafana hosting Sierra Leone in another crucial encounter. Niger have never qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations before, while Sierra Leone have only featured twice in the competition won seven times by Egypt. Senegal, Burkina Faso and Libya have booked their places in the finals with victories over DR Congo, Namibia and Mozambique respectively.
