The Egyptian FA has announced that next season's Premier League competition will comprise 20 teams including the bottom three clubs from last term. The association confirmed on its website that an exceptional 2011-2012 season will also include the three teams promoted from the second division to the top flight. Ittihad, Smouha and Arab Contractors were demoted from the Premier League last term, while Ghazl Mahalla, Bani Suef Telephones and Dakhlia have moved up. A round-robin will take place in Cairo this summer between the runners-up of the three second-division groups Aswan, Telecom Egypt and Mansoura. The winner will complete the 20 top-flight teams of next season. Five clubs will be relegated next season to be replaced by three teams from the second tier as the 2012-2013 competition will comprise 18 teams for the first time.
