Hassan Shehata warned the Zamalek board that he could pull out of the job of managing the first team if his demands were not met soon. The former Egypt coach, who has been hired to replace Hossam Hassan last month, revealed that he has yet to ink a deal with the Cairo club. He sent a warning note to Galal Ibrahim's board, urging them to act quickly with the process of enforcing the squad or else he would reconsider his options. “I have yet to sign a contract and I am not ready to burn myself with a squad of players who do not get paid,” Shehata said in an interview with Al-Nahar TV. “I haven't started pre-season yet because none of my demands, which include paying wages and enforcing the team with good signings, were met until now.” Zamalek have been encountering severe financial problems throughout the past couple of seasons, prompting more than 10 players to file a complaint to the Egyptian FA last term.
Chairman responds In response to Shehata's warning, Zamalek chairman Ibrahim asked the Master to be patient, promising to improve things by next week. “I hope you would excuse us and be patient, Zamalek is your home,” said the chairman in a phone call with the show hosting Shehata. “Debts are surrounding the club, but the FA still owes us some money and the sponsorship deal we signed with Al-Ahram recently has yet to be activated. “Hopefully we can cover the players' wages by next week.”
