Ahli boss Manuel Jose is encouraging Ahmed Fathi to make a move to a European club as he considers him to be the strongest defender in Egypt. “Fathi is one of the pillars of the team and he is the strongest in Egypt. Yes he has offers from European clubs,” Jose said in a lengthy interview with CBC TV. “It would be good if he moved to Europe because it will give him a new edge in his career, and the club can also benefit financially from selling him.” Fathi, who spent an unsuccessful season with Sheffield United a few years ago, was linked with newly-promoted English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers. Shehata appointment Commenting on the arrival of Hassan Shehata as the new manager of Zamalek, Jose praised his rivals' choice as he hopes it will add some flavor to the title challenge. “Shehata's appointment will make competition a lot tougher next season and I think his achievements need no explanation,” the Portuguese added. Jose defended Shehata after the latter's failure to take Egypt through to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations last month.
