National Sports Council president Hassan Sakr is to send the ruling military council a request to resume the Egyptian Premier League midway through April. All sports competitions were indefinitely halted in Egypt after demonstrations broke out and turned into a full-scale revolt that overthrew former president Hosni Mubarak last month. A step towards the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League was taken right after security became relatively maintained amid a strong police presence, unlike in the past weeks. Sakr met with the representatives of the top-flight sides, including Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim as well as his Ahli and Ismaili counterparts Hassan Hamdi and Nassr Aboul-Hassan. "Sakr will send one letter on behalf of all clubs to call for permission to continue the league," Ibrahim told FilGoal.com. All clubs rejected the possibility of holding the remainder of the league matches behind closed doors. Egyptian FA chief Samir Zaher, who also attended the meeting, should convene the clubs' representatives one more time on Tuesday.
Galal Ibrahim All Egyptian outfits will suffer from severe financial losses should the league be cancelled this season. Four Conditions FilGoal.com understands the recommencement of the Egyptian Premier League is contingent upon four conditions: -Egypt must either take no part in the World Military Cup or name players from the second division for the biennial tournament. -Teams taking part in the CAF Champions League cannot take more than three days off before returning to the domestic competition. -The Egyptian national team cannot hold lengthy training camps ahead of international friendly or competitive matches. -All clubs must accept the fact that the Competitions' Committee won't make excuses for players on international duty except those who represent Egypt's senior team.
