Egyptian center-back Amir Azmi became a free agent after terminating his contract with Saudi side Al-Taawon by mutual consent. The 27-year-old joined Al-Taawon in the close season and regularly featured in the Saudi League over the past months. But he opted to end short his stay at the minnows after they suffered a 'financial crunch', which caused players' salaries to be delayed. "I felt that I won't be able to keep playing for Al-Taawon in the second half of the season amid their financial crunch," Azmi told FilGoal.com. "I met with the club's officials and we agreed to annul the deal in a friendly way." Al-Taawon's neighbors Al-Raed are reportedly seeking to sign Azmi but the former Zamalek prodigy is looking to carry on his career at another competition. "I would rather leave the Saudi League these days," he explained. "I received an offer from a Swiss club and another from a Chinese outfit. An Egyptian side are also interested in my services. "I'll probably accept one of the three bids soon." After rescinding his contract with Turkey's Diyarbakirspor, Azmi signed for Harras Hodoud during the off-season but the Alexandrian club backed out of the deal for no apparent reason. Al-Taawon are the second Saudi side Amzi played for, as he spent a fruitless spell at Al-Shabab from 2006 to 2008. Throughout his career, Azmi also plied his trade at PAOK of Greece, Cypriot duo Anorthosis Famagusta and AEK Larnaca as well as Turkish side Hacettepe S.K.
