Ahli's caretaker coach Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Shafi 'Zizo' said his side have finally overcome their poor run of form, in the wake of Thursday's goalless draw with Zamalek. The Red Devils, who were often criticized for their lackluster performances and string of unsatisfying results on all fronts, produced a solid display against Zamalek in the league clash. Ahli couldn't claim a victory but Zizo believes their performance against their arch-rivals leaves no doubt that they have redeemed themselves. "The tough period is finally over, what's coming should be easier," he told FilGoal.com. "What we've achieved in the past few weeks needed months to be done. I'm grateful to the players for this. "The players lacked harmony and were under immense pressure, but now it's over." Zizo was appointed as Ahli boss on a temporary basis late in November shortly after his predecessor Hossam Al-Badri, who was largely blamed for the team's substandard displays, stepped down. The six-time African champions have drawn four times and won a single game thus far under Zizo's management. A foreign manager should take Ahli's helm in the winter. Portuguese coach Manuel Jose is the frontrunner to take up the job. Under Jose, Ahli rejoiced in a blaze of glory and record-breaking triumphs domestically and continently over the past decade. Zizo won a lot of praise after his team's performance in the Cairo derby. He might well keep his post if Ahli fail to rehire Jose.
