Ahmed Elmohamady came on as a late substitute as Sunderland claimed a 1-0 home victory over struggling West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday. Jordan Henderson, who took Elmohamady's place on the right flank, scored the winner in the 34th minute for his first league goal. The 20-year-old England international blasted Asamoah Gyan's pull-back into the top corner of the net from inside the area. Egyptian wingback Elmohamady started on the bench for the fifth consecutive game before being introduced with four minutes remaining instead of Henderson. The 23-year-old, who is loan from Egyptian side ENPPI, could have opened his Sunderland account three minutes into stoppage time. He carved out some space for himself before firing a shot with the outside of his right boot but it missed the target, prompting the Black Cats' coach Steve Bruce to react angrily on the touchline. The win moved Sunderland into seventh spot in the league table with 23 points, six behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
