Sunderland coach Steve Bruce was pleased with the display Ahmed Al-Muhammadi produced on his competitive debut with the club. The Egyptian wing-back started Sunderland's 2-2 draw at home to Birmingham City in their Premier League opener on Saturday. He was substituted with striker Martyn Waghorn in the last minute after making a fine impact. "The Egyptian boy (Al Muhammadi ) did very well," Bruce was quoted as saying by Sky Sports ion Sunday. Al-Muhammadi played on the right-side of a four-man midfield in the first half. He was a constant menace down the right with his penetrating runs and inch-perfect crosses. The 22-year-old was equally impressive when he switched to the left flank after the break although he is unfamiliar with this role. Al-Muhammadi joined Sunderland from Egyptian Premier League side ENPPI on a season-long loan.
