Spain captain Iker Casillas said Real Madrid are closing on landing Ashley Cole from Chelsea. "From what I am hearing the signs look good. I have only briefly spoken to people at the club but I am confident that he can be a Real Madrid player next year. "I think it will be the right move for him both professionally and personally." Casillas steered Spain to winning the World Cup for the first time in history as well as being awarded with the Golden Glove as the best keeper in the tournament. He hopes to enjoy some of this success with Real Madrid under new manager Jose Mourinho and believes Cole could be helpful to the capital club. "Cole will know better than anybody this club will be successful under Jose," Casillas said. "Jose has proved he buys players and makes them the very best in the world in their position. "With Ashley he doesn't need to do that because he's already the best left-back in the world." Real Madrid haven't won any titles since clinching La Liga in 2008. Their last European trophy is dated back to 2002, when they won the Champions League.
