Thierry Henry has joined MLS club New York Red Bulls on a 'multi-year contract.' "It is an honor to play for the New York Red Bulls. "I am fully aware of the team's history and my sole goal during my time here is to help win the club its first championship. "Knowing Red Bull's significant commitment to soccer locally and internationally, I am confident that my team-mates and I will succeed." Henry is a free agent after Barcelona released him last month, despite still having one year in his contract. He was targeted by French and English clubs but opted for a move to the states, following into the footsteps of David Beckham.
