Sunderland manager Steve Bruce expressed his delight at signing Egyptian wing-back Ahmed Al-Muhammadi. The international ace joined the Premiership club from ENPPI on an extendable season-long loan deal after prolonged talks between both clubs. After the move went through on Friday, Bruce said he is expecting a 'big impact' from Al-Muhammadi. "We're delighted to get the deal done," Bruce was quoted as saying by Sunderland's official website. "Ahmed is a player we've been aware of for a long time and we know exactly what he will bring to the squad. "His pace and direct style will be an asset to us and give the team an extra dimension on the right-hand side. "At only 22 he is already an experienced international, which will serve him well as he adjusts to life in the Premier League. "I expect it will take him time to settle but Ahmed is a player who can have a big impact in this division and we welcome him to the club." Bruce had previously worked with Egyptian players in Amr Zaki and Mido, when he was in charge of Wigan Athletic in the 2008-2009 season. He was full of praise for Zaki during the first half of the season but the Egypt striker's irresponsible acts caused him to fall out with his boss. On the other hand, Bruce has always admired Mido despite his goal drought during the six-month spell he spent at the JJB Stadium.
