Argentina manager Diego Maradona believes that referees fail to provide enough protection for talisman Lionel Messi, amid malicious tackles from opponents. In the wake of the 3-1 last 16 win over Mexico, Maradona was quick to answer the common question of 'Why doesn't Messi score?' "It's scandalous -- they aim at his right leg or his left and don't look at the ball," Maradona told reporters. "They kick him terribly and the referee doesn't say anything about it. "I have lived that myself 20 years ago, when I was a player when you had three players on you. I understand the Mexicans' feelings but there is a limit to everything." Meanwhile, the Argentina legend is excited to face Germany in the quarter-finals as he approaches the game in confident mood. "We will take stock of our situation, then we will try and put together the best team to showcase our talents against Germany," he said. "It will be the team to give us the guarantee to overcome Germany. "We know Germany are a different team to the side we faced in Mexico. They are stronger, but we will field the right players to beat them."
