Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback was left disappointed at his side's failure to beat South Korea despite creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities. The Super Eagles exited the World Cup from the first round after drawing 2-2 with Korea, who reached the knockout phase as Group B runners up behind Argentina. They needed to beat Korea to stand a chance of going through but they squandered a host of clear-cut chances to become the third African team to bow out from the group stage. "I was disappointed about all the chances," Swedish coach Lagerback said after the game. "Mostly I feel disappointed and sad. It's the results that count so there is not much to say." Striker Yakubu missed a glorious opportunity to draw Nigeria level when South Korea were leading 2-1. He stabbed the ball wide with the goal gaping but made amends shortly afterwards when he converted a penalty. "What I can say is we beat ourselves," Nigeria and Everton defender Joseph Yobo said. "We created many chances, more than the Koreans, but we refused to take them. It's unfortunate, it's very frustrating. "The Koreans had their own chances and took them, we wish them good luck in the rest of the tournament."
