Inter Milan won their first trophy in their quest for an unprecedented Italian treble after beating AS Roma 1-0 in an ill-tempered Cup final on Wednesday. Argentinean in-form striker Diego Milito, who has scored 20 goals in the Serie A so far this season, notched the winner five minutes before the break in superb fashion. He collected a pass from Thiago Motta, raced into the area despite being opposed by three defenders and fired powerful shot that went into the top left corner. Inter had to make two unscripted substitutions in the first half after Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder and central defender Ivan Cordoba picked up injuries, making way for Mario Balotelli and Walter Samuel respectively. Roma piled on pressure in the second half to level the score but could not break down Inter's stubborn defense. They also had skipper Francesco Totti, who was introduced in the second half, dismissed three minutes from time for a wild challenge on Balotelli. Inter, in their second season under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, have a chance to win two more titles. They have a two-point lead over Roma in the Serie A race with two matches remaining and face German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League final on May 22nd. Milito's goal Totti's red card
