Zaki terminates Hull deal, awaits Zamalek clearance
Published in FilGoal on 02 - 05 - 2010

Amr Zaki has terminated his deal with Hull City in a bid to feature in Zamalek's remaining games of the season, the Cairo club said on Sunday.
Hull, who signed Zaki from Zamalek on loan in January, prematurely ended the Bulldozer's Premier League adventure after he was hit by a succession of injuries during his short spell at the KC Stadium.
Coach Iain Dowie has made it clear that Zaki would not be able to play with the struggling side in the remaining games of the season although his loan deal officially expires in June.
The Egypt striker stepped up his efforts to terminate the contract and be eligible to take part in Zamalek's Egyptian Cup campaign.
His attempts were fruitful, Zamalek's de factor football director Ibrahim Hassan said.
"Everything has been settled with Hull, Zaki is now free," Hassan, the twin brother of head coach Hossam Hassan, said on the club's official website.
"He will be cleared to play with Zamalek once he has received his International Transfer Certificate."
Zaki's return is likely to hand Hossam Hassan a major boost after he complained about the lack of reliable strikers at his disposal.
Zamalek, who are likely to finish as runners-up to league champions and arch-rivals Ahli, can salvage their season if they win the Egyptian Cup.
They won Egypt's secondary competition in 2008 before enduring a trophy-less 2008/2009 season.
The White Knights open their campaign against second-division side Fayoum and are expected to face Ahli in the following round.
