Ahli assistant coach Alaa Maihoub cited the introduction of Mohamed Abou-Treika as a reason for the Red Devils' 2-1 win at Asyut Petroleum. The defending champions scored a narrow win to cement their place on top of the Egyptian Premier League table. Talisman Abou-Treika was introduced right after the break when both sides were on level terms. The influential playmaker helped Mohamed Fadl net the winner by whipping in a diagonal cross that was diverted into the net by the former Ismaili man. "We were unlucky in the first half and squandered so many clear-cut chances," Maihoub said after the game. "When Abou-Treika came in as a substitute, our performance notably improved. "The weather was hot and the pitch wasn't perfect, but we eventually won the game." Ahli, who are bidding for their sixth successive league title, are on top of the league table with 46 points, eight ahead of closest rivals Petrojet.
