Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki believes that more than one Egyptian player should have been named in the 2009 African Team of the Year. Ahli veteran Wael Gomaa has been solely named from Egypt in CAF's line up. The 34-year-old was picked as one of the best defenders on the Dark Continent along with Algeria's Nadir Belhadj and Ghana ace John Pantsil. "There are several more players from Egypt should have been named in the CAF line up," Sedki told FilGoal.com. "For instance, (Essam) Al-Hadari, (Mohamed) Zidan and Ahmed Hassan should have been picked. I really don't know why they were left out. "Al-Hadari was named the best goalie in the 2006 and 2008 Nations Cups, so I can't tell why he wasn't chosen." T.P Mazembe and DR Congo keeper Muteba Kidiaba was unexpectedly named in the CAF starting eleven. "Mohamed Zidan was impressive was with Borussia Dortmund in 2009, so did Ahmed Hassan at Ahli," Sedki added.
