Egypt reached the African Handball Championship final after beating Algeria 26-24 on home soil on Friday. Algeria led 13-11 at halftime but a late surge by title holders Egypt saw them claim a valuable win. Roared on by their enthusiastic fans at Cairo Stadium, the Pharaohs overcame a three-goal deficit late in the game to send their supporters into ecstasy. "My players were very determined to win the game, thanks God," Egypt coach Gamal Shams, who was lost for words, told Nile Sports after the game. Egyptian handball Federation President Hadi Fahmi said Algeria made life difficult for the tournament hosts. "Algeria played very well today. They congratulated us following the game," he said. Five-time winners Egypt, who booked their place in the World Championship, will face Tunisia in the African Championship final on Saturday. They will also qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games if they overcome Tunisia.
