Cameroon revived their qualifying hope after snatching a 3-2 win over Zambia in a pulsating Nations Cup match on Sunday. Jacob Mulenga put Zambia ahead only after eight minutes, before Geremi brought the score level on 68 minutes. Samuel Eto'o scored Cameroon's second four minutes later but Christopher Katongo canceled out their slender lead eight minutes from time. Second-half substitute Mohamadou Idrissou scored the winner on 86 minutes. Now Cameroon are in Group D second place with three points, one ahead of third-placed Tunisia who earlier drew with Gabon. Cameroon and Tunisia will face each other in their last group-stage match. Toothless Lions The Indomitable Lions were toothless in the first half which gave Zambia the opportunity to control the game for quite a while. Katongo capitalized on a deadly Rigobert Song mistake to open the scoring.
Eto'o The 33-year-old defender was about to divert Felix Katongo's cross into his own net but keeper Kameni blocked the ball that was easily found by Katongo who poked into an empty net. Zambia could have doubled their lead on many occasions throughout the first half, while the Cameroonians remained totally off-form. Kameni parried a Rainford Kalaba long-range shot on 31 minutes and also prevented Katongo from scoring on the rebound. Influential Introduction After the interval, the introduction of Idrissou was proven to be influential as he notably strengthened Cameroon's frontline. Idrissou had a goal disallowed through offside two minutes from the hour mark. Geremi hit the equalizer when his cross-come-shot unexpectedly hit Zambia's net, thanks to a Kennedy Mweene awkward save. Inter star Eto'o made the score-line when he latched onto a cross inside the area to fire his side in front with a clinical finish. Katongo restored parity when he converted a penalty kick but substitute Idrissou showed off his ariel challenge when he towered to head home a Geremi cross.
