Hoffenheim striker Chinedu Obasi has been traded in to replace Michael Eneramo in Nigeria's final squad for the African Cup of Nations. Despite being included in the Super Eagles' initial 23-man list, Esperance hitman Eneramo made way for the impressive Obasi. "We had to send in our list before the deadline to avoid paying a fine," Nigeria team officer Idah Peterside told KickoffNigeria.com. "But the rules allow us to make a substitution before the final tournament kicks off. "So after the few days of training here, the technical crew decided to include Obasi in the list. We wrote to CAF asking for permission to make a substitution, and they have just written back to us giving the go-ahead. "So Eneramo has been dropped and Obasi will take his place." Nigeria were worried about the fitness of striker Obafemi Martins, who was struggling with injury, but it seems that the Wolfsburg man is recovering well, according to Peterside. Nigeria will start their CAN 2010 campaign against defending champions Egypt in Benguela on January 12th.
