Zamalek officials Ahmed Refaat and Ahmed Abdul-Halim have handed in their resignations in protest over the recent appointment of Hossam Hassan. Hassan has been chosen by the Zamalek board to replace sacked coach Henri Michel, following a string of poor results. However, the appointment of the former Ahli legend seemed to have provoked a state of dismay inside the Zamalek Football Committee. "I have no reservations about Hossam Hassan himself, but where are the club's former stars?" Abdul-Halim told Egyptian Radio. "We have suffered under the management of several foreign coaches, and when we decided to appoint an Egyptian manager, the board ignored the club's loyal sons. "I wish Hassan good luck, but I can't even understand why there isn't anyone from inside the club with the new staff. "Zamalek sons are enjoying success with a number of other teams, yet they are ignored at their home." Hassan is the third manager to take charge of the fallen Cairo giants this season, following Swiss coach Michel Decastel and Frenchman Michel. The 43-year-old will be assisted by former Masri star Tarek Soliman, while Ibrahim Hassan, Hossam's twin brother, has been appointed football director.
