Chelsea moved top of the Premier League after producing a superb attacking display to thump Blackburn Rovers 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Blues went ahead after 20 minutes when Blackburn's French defender Gael Givet diverted a Nicolas Anelka cross into his own net. England midfielder Frank Lampard doubled Chelsea's advantage three minutes after the restart with a close-range effort. Michael Essien added the third on 52 minutes with a long-range shot and Lampard converted a penalty seven minutes later to put the result beyond doubt. Ivorian striker Didier Drogba completed the rout in the 64th minute after heading in a corner. Chelsea now have 24 points, two ahead of second-placed Manchester United who can reclaim top spot if they beat rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
