Salomon Kalou scored twice as Chelsea crushed Atletico Madrid 4-0 at Stamford Bridge to move on the brink of reaching the Champions League knockout stage. The Ivorian forward opened the scoring four minutes before the break with a close-range shot after a low cross from Ashley Cole. He extended the hosts' advantage seven minutes after the restart when he headed home Frank Lampard's corner. Lampard turned from provider to scorer on 69 minutes to add the third and an own goal from Atletico defender Luis Perea in stoppage time completed the rout. Chelsea, who reached the semi-final of Europe's premier competition five times in the last six years, top Group D with maximum nine points from three games. Portuguese giants Porto, who beat APOEL of Cyprus 2-1, have six points while Atletico lie at the bottom with just one point.
