FIFA executive committee member Hani Abou-Reida has not ruled out the prospect of standing as a candidate at the forthcoming Egyptian FA presidential election. According to the EFA regulations, incumbent president Samir Zaher will not be able to present himself for re-election for a third successive spell in office. Former EFA vice-president and renowned TV presenter Ahmed Shobeir has already announced he would be in the running for the prestigious seat. Abou-Reida, a respected figure in Egyptian football, might follow in Shobeir's footsteps. "I haven't decided yet," Abou-Reida told Abu Dhabi Sport channel when asked whether he intended to stand in the election. "There is still a long way to go before the election. If I feel that I can benefit Egyptian football by becoming the EFA president I will enter the election. "I may eventually opt to remain as a member in the executive committees of FIFA and (African governing body) CAF." Abou-Reida headed the local organizing committee of the 2006 African Cup of Nations which took place in Egypt. Following his success in the African biennial tournament, he was chosen to preside over the organizing committee of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup.
