Liverpool to sign Greek veteran Kyrgiakos

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Greece defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos from AEK Athens.
"We have nearly done the deal subject to a medical," Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez told the club's official website.
"He is a player with experience who can hopefully help us in defense. He has experience in British football and Rangers. After that with Frankfurt and the national team.
"He's a good player in the air, strong and aggressive. We were looking for a player with experience. He will have the medical this week, it has to be before the weekend."
Liverpool are in a rush to sign Kyrgiakos before their weekend clash with Aston Villa as they have a host of defenders on the injury list.
The 30-year-old Greek should provide cover for center-halves Jamie Carragher and Daniel Ayala, with Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Fabio Aurelio out injured.
