Liverpool's club record signing Fernando Torres could make his European debut, as the Spanish wonder kid has never played in the top European club competition. "Everyone wants to play in Europe, to be among the greats, I did not come here because of money, I came for the challenge and the chance to win things and I believe I can do that with Liverpool," said Torres.
Gonzalez confident "The chance to play in the Champions League and with great players is what matters. I want to contribute with my goals." Home advantage Porto skipper Lucho Gonzalez hopes the advantage of playing at home could boost his team's chances of producing a positive result against the group favorites. "It's good to play against such a strong team, Liverpool are very difficult opponents but we think we are ready, they have a very strong defense and they are very good at counterattacking but we hope to impose our own style," Gonzalez told Uefa.com "I hope the stadium will be full," he said. "We hope the crowd will put Liverpool under pressure." The Argentine playmaker urges his team to maintain their fine domestic form, which saw them amass maximum points so far in the Portuguese Superliga. "We have started the season really well," he said. "We already have a lot of victories under our belt and we hope to get another against Liverpool."
