Liverpool have reached an agreement with AS Roma to sign midfielder Alberto Aquilani, the Premier League club said on Wednesday. "Alberto is a very good player who has a winning mentality and great experience in both Serie A and the Champions League," Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez said on the club's official website. "He has long been recognized as a top class talent in Italy, captaining his country at both Under 19 and Under 21 levels before establishing himself in the senior national side." Liverpool will reportedly pay Real £20 million to acquire the services of Aquilani, who will have a medical later this week. The Reds moved for the 25-year-old after selling midfielder Xabi Alonso to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Aquilani is Liverpool's second major close-season signing after right back Glen Johnson joined from Portsmouth.
