Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson believes that Manchester City won't be in contention for any titles next season, in spite of capturing a host of top-notch players. The Citizen have been re-building their squad this summer, having landed Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor in the process. However, Ferguson is adamant City are still by far incapable of vying with the Premiership giants for accolades. "It won't be easy for them to win anything, even with the players they have bought," he told a news conference.
Hughes "I can't look at them as our main competitors. Liverpool and Chelsea are our main competitors." On the other hand, City boss Mark Hughes remains confident of his side's massive project. "I have huge respect for him (Ferguson) but that does not mean I have to agree with what he says," he stated in South Africa, where his men beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a warm-up game. The former Blackburn Rovers tactician is convinced that Ferguson wasn't trying to initiate a verbal jousting ahead of the new season. "I don't think this is a mind game," Hughes added.
