Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal said his side needed to be more creative following their goalless draw with Austria's Salzburg in a pre-season friendly. The Bavarians failed to impress in their first game under the Dutch boss, who succeeded Jurgen Klinsmann at the club's helm. "We didn't create many chances," Van Gaal was quoted as saying by Bayern's official website. "This match was a first step. Hope we're more creative next week and don't give the ball away so much." Towering striker Mario Gomez made his debut but wasted a rare goalscoring opportunity six minutes before the break. Fellow new signings Anatoliy Tymoschuk and Danijel Pranjic also took part in the game. Bayern, who ended last season empty-handed, will be looking to mount a serious challenge for the Bundesliga title after losing it to surprise package Wolfsburg.
