Zamalek signed midfielder Ahmed Tharwat on a four-year contract on Wednesday, his agent said. Agent Adel Kordi told FilGoal.com that Tharwat joined the Cairo club on a free transfer after his contract with second-division Rabat expired. The 24-year-old was close to joining Petrojet last January, but the White Knights eventually snapped him up. He is the second holding midfielder joining Zamalek this summer after Ghanaian international Ibrahim Ayew. The five-time African Champions also signed striker Ahmed Gaafar from Telecom Egypt, international defender Amir Azmi, and Mahalla winger Mohamed Abdul-Shafi.
