A last-gasp penalty from Kaka shattered Egypt's hopes of pulling off a draw with Brazil, who took the edge of a seven-goal thriller in the Confederations Cup Group B clash on Monday. Following their 3-1 trailing before the break, Egypt produced an extraordinary second-half display to put the game in the balance until the 89th minute. But a late goal-line handball from Ahmed Al-Muhammadi allowed Kaka to win the game for the Brazilians, with the former receiving his marching orders in the process. Kaka (twice), Luis Fabiano and Juan scored for Brazil, against a brace from Mohamed Zidan and rare goal by Mohamed Shawky for Egypt. Hassan Shehata fielded almost the same side who got beaten in Algeria last week, with the exception of Ahmed Hassan, who was traded in for Amr Zaki. Zidan started as a lone striker, backed by playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika. Kaka stunner It took the holders five minutes to breach Egypt's defense when Kaka justified his €67million price tag with a special strike. The world class playmaker smoothly robbed Hani Saied and Wael Gomaa before showing magnificent composure to steer past Essam Al-Hadari with aplomb. The early goal released the shackles of early nerves for Egypt and Zidan brought the score level four minutes later with a fine header from Abou-Treika's cross. However, the mighty Brazil gave Egypt no more than two minutes to fancy a comeback as Fabiano dispatched an unstoppable header into the net, following Elano's pinpoint cross. The goal seemed to have demoralized Shehata's side and Brazil started to deploy organized inroads against Al-Hadari's goal. In the 23rd minute, Elano whipped in another rocketing corner that was met by a powerful header from Juan, who saw his effort go narrowly over the bar. Eight minutes from the break, Daniel Alves fired a 35-yard freekick, only for Al-Hadari to parry it over the bar, but the Egypt keeper couldn't deal with the resulting corner
so did Zidan Juan replicated a carbon copy of his earlier header to make it three for the Selecao. Quickfire Double, Super Comeback and Heartbreaking End Five minutes after the break, Shehata made his first substitution, introducing Ahmed Eid for captain Hassan. The adventurous alteration proved to be a masterstroke from the Egypt coach, as Eid refreshed the frontline in no time. In the 54th minute, Shawky finished off a terrific team move involving no less than six players to pull one back for Egypt from 20 yards, following Sayed Moawad's deft pass. Less than a minute later, Zidan put Egypt back on level terms once again when he slid in a powerful finish after he was sent through by the classy Abou-Treika. Again the build-up was marvelous. Egypt astoundingly controlled possession after the superb comeback and looked in line to work out a historic win over the South American titans. Dunga brought in Alexandre Pato and Ramires for Robinho and Elano, in an attempt to revive his shocked team. Brazil's best chance of the second half came in the 77th minute when the ever-danger Kaka's volley went inches over Al-Hadari's bar. Two minutes from time, Lucio saw his close-range volley cleared off the line by Al-Muhammadi's arm and referee Howard Webb gave a corner, much to the relief of millions of Egyptians. Nonetheless, the English ref backed down on his decision, handing the Samba Dancers a deserved spot kick, which was expertly converted by Kaka. Match Highlights
