Bayern Munich secured their fifth close-season signing after acquiring the services of Surinamese left-back Edson Braafheid from Dutch club Twente. "FCB have agreed terms with Braafheid and his club," the Bavarian giants announced on their website on Thursday. "He passed a medical in Munich on Thursday before signing a four-year contract binding him to his new club until 30 June 2013." Bayern are also close to wrapping up a deal for another left-back in Croatian Danijel Pranjic. "Both players, fresh from successful campaigns for their clubs in the Dutch first division last term, are comfortable in the left-back berth," the 21-time German champions added. "That in turn would allow Germany international Philipp Lahm to revert to the right side of the field." Bayern have already signed Mario Gomez, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Ivica Olic and Alexander Baumjohann for the new season. Louis van Gaal's side are bolstering their squad to regain the Bundesliga title after surrendering it to Wolfsburg last season.
