Ahli's newly-signed defender Mohamed Khalaf could face prison sentence after being charged with skipping the mandatory military service. The 23-year-old, who is set to complete his move to Ahli from second-division side Nasr in the close season, was found to have forged documents to show that he fulfilled his military duty. "We hired a lawyer to defend him in this case," Nasr football director Hesham Kotb told FilGoal.com on Thursday. "Although he left us, we will stand by him because he was one of the most respected players at the club." If Khalaf is convicted, Egyptian champions Ahli might be forced to call off the deal. "We will probably give Ahli the money they paid for us to sign Khalaf if he is sentenced to prison," Nasr spokesman Abdul-Nasser Zidan said. Ahli have yet to comment on the matter. The Red Devils brought in sweeper Khalaf to cover the absence of former Egyptian international Emad Al-Nahhas, who twice suffered cruciate ligament damage in less than a year.
