Petrojet booked a historic place in the CAF Confederation Cup after Alaa Ibrahim's late strike gave them a precious 3-2 victory over ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday. Veteran striker Ibrahim, who finished last season as the league's top scorer, put Petrojet ahead after 31 minutes. ENPPI's evergreen midfielder Adel Mostafa converted a spot-kick just before the break to level the score. Another penalty by Mostafa five minutes past the hour mark gave ENPPI, who were also eyeing a Confederation Cup spot, the lead. Petrojet's Mohamed Shaaban needed just one minute to restore parity before Ibrahim sealed the invaluable victory with an 81st-minute goal. Mokhtar Mokhtar's side, who were deemed title contenders early in the season, finished third on 51 points, two ahead of fifth-placed ENPPI. They will accompany Harras Hodoud, who won the Egyptian Cup, to the Confederation Cup - Africa's secondary competition. It is the first time in the history of Petrojet, who earned Premier League promotion in 2006, to qualify for an African competition. Top two Ahli and Ismaili will meet in a playoff on Sunday to determine the league winner.
