Egyptian FA president Samir Zaher said that the Pharaohs' commitments will have the priority ahead of Ahli's African participation in the Association's schedule. The Red Devils were ousted from the African Champions League last 16 round on Saturday, and they will now be taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup. Egypt will be facing Oman in a friendly on May 31st, which will contradict with Ahli's last 16 round Confederation Cup fixture. "Egypt's interests are more important than any club," Zaher told a press conference.
Zaher: Egypt's interests are more important than any club. "Head of the Omani Association asked us to set any date we want for the friendly, and we decided on May 31st because it was more convenient for the national side. The Oman friendly also means that Ahli international players will be few days late in joining the Egypt training camp ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Algeria on June 7th. Zaher did not mention whether the FA will be holding talks with Ahli over the matter, or if Ahli international players will be prevented from playing in the CAF Cup.
