Kanoute pledges future to Sevilla
Published in FilGoal on 02 - 04 - 2009

Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal with the Andalucian club.
The Mali ace was linked with a move to AC Milan in the summer, but is now set for another spell at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after penning a two-year contract until June 2012.
"Both parties wanted to reach an agreement and we showed our interest in doing so, it is for that reason that it has been closed so quickly," Kanoute said at a press conference on Thursday.
"I am delighted to be able to stay here, this shows my commitment to Sevilla."
Interest
The 32-year-old admitted there were overtures from other clubs, but his loyalty to Sevilla prompted his stay.
"I have not thought about anywhere else. There was interest from other clubs. I heard that in Italy they said I would be delighted to go to Milan, but that is not true, because I did not speak with them," he said.
"I am not saying there were not offers, but I only spoke directly with Sevilla, because that was my priority."
Kanoute, who netted 15 Primera Liga goals so far this term, implied that he could finish his career in Seville.
"I am delighted because I like the city, my family has adapted well here, the team is very good and the club keeps on growing. The truth is that there were no reasons for me to go," he added.
"It seems that I am getting closer to that, but it is still early to make a decision. I am not sure whether I would retire at that age."
