Frederic Kanoute scored a hat-trick to inspire Sevilla to a 5-3 hammering to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup second leg game at the Santiago Bernabeu. The cup champions clinched the trophy with a 6-3 aggregate score line, following their 1-0 first leg victory at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last week. Sevilla were in front after 17 minutes thanks to a goal from Brazil midfielder Renato, but Real's recent signing Royston Drenthe equalized seven minutes later with his first goal for Los Blancos. Renato came back with his second of the game five minutes later, before Kanoute started his show with 38th minute penalty to make it 3-1. Fabio Cannavaro pulled one back for the Spanish champions at the stroke of half-time as Sergio Ramos completed the fight back with an 80th minute equalizer. However, Mali ace Kanoute scored twice in the 83rd and 90th minutes respectively to complete his hat-trick and hand the Super Cup trophy to the Sevillistas.
