Frederic Kanoute's first-half strike was enough to give Sevilla the King's Cup title following a 1-0 victory over Getafe at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. The in-form Malian striker notched what proved to be the winner in the 11th minute before being sent-off in the dying seconds for retaliating after being fouled by Francisco Casquero. Kanoute raced clear from the halfway line before rolling the ball past Getafe keeper Luis Garcia, who deputized for regular guardian Roberto Abbondanzieri who is away on international duty with Argentina. Juande Ramos side have brilliantly ended a remarkable season, having won the UEFA Cup title for the second successive time last month. They also competed for the Primera Liga title until the last match before finishing third in the table after Real Madrid claimed the title and Barcelona came as runners-up.
