Lierse's Egyptian winger Mohamed Abdul-Wahed believes his side have a strong chance of sealing promotion to the Jupiler Pro League. "The race has become tight now. Just three points separates us from (Belgian second-division leaders) Sint Truidense," Abdul-Wahed told Lierse official website. "I hope that we will be the champions at the end. I think Sint Truidense will lose some points in the coming matches." Abdul-Wahed scored the only goal as Lierse defeated Sint Truidense 1-0 on Monday to come within a whisker of overtaking them at the summit. The former Zamalek man came on as a second-half substitute to inspire Lierse to a precious win. He notched the winner three minutes from time when he chested a poor defensive clearance on the edge of the area before sending a left-footed shot past the keeper. "I knew that I wouldn't be included in the starting line-up just ten minutes before the game," Abdul-Wahed, who took his tally to nine league goals, added. "The coach told me he wants to play more defensively. It is not important whether I play or not, I just hope that the team win every game." The league winner directly qualifies for the Belgian first division while teams from the second to the fifth places enter promotion play-offs.
