Following Barcelona's 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Sunday, club coach Josep Guardiola said he's glad to see his team return to winning games in style. Despite leading the Primera Liga table with a twelve-point margin ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, Barca's recent wins were not as fascinating as the team's earlier Liga displays. “We are starting to fight for the ball again. We have recovered our tone and our intensity and we are playing with more fluidity between defence and attack,” Guardiola said after the game. “We were much tighter and we gave our opponents very little time on the ball. We maintained the same rhythm in the second half and we had the match in our control.” Players' praise The former Roma man was full of praise for striker Samuel Eto'o as well as Brazilian full-back Daniel Alves, who both scored Barca's goals against Gijon. “Eto'o is a player who helps us a lot with his goals and sacrifice. There are lots of reasons why things are going well for us, and he's one of them. “As for Alves, he never gets tired and brings a lot of things to the dressing room apart from his skills, such as his enthusiasm,” Guardiola added. The 38-year-old tactician was appointed as Barcelona's coach in the summer, following the sacking of Frank Rijkaard.
