Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri revealed that the technical staff intends to give fringe players more chances in the upcoming period. Ahli coach Manuel Jose was consistently criticized for not giving his summer arrivals adequate opportunities to prove their worth. But it seems that the Portuguese tactician plans to change that trend. The likes of Ahmed Farag, Hussein Ali and keeper Ramzi Saleh took part in Ahli's 3-0 victory over Koroum in the Egyptian Cup round of 32. "Due to our hectic schedule, every member of Ahli's squad will get more chances in the next few matches," Al-Badri told the post-match press conference. "All of the players will have a chance to prove themselves." Jose is trying to keep his key players fresh ahead of a hectic schedule that will see Ahli play five rescheduled league matches in the space of 30 days. Should they further progress in the cup; the Red Devils will play three additional games in January.
